Democrats Form ‘Unity’ Super Duper PAC

Democrats are merging their major Super PACs into a Super Duper PAC, ‘Unity 2012,’ in an attempt to combine their fundraising efforts and take as much advantage as possible of the new campaign finance terrain.

A recent Federal Election Commission filing shows Priorities USA Action, the Super PAC run by former Obama aide Bill Burton that is meant to boost his re-election, fusing itself with Majority PAC and House Majority PAC, for the Senate and House Democrats, respectively.

“This joint effort is basically a convenience for donors who are looking to participate in more than one progressive organization,” Burton told Politico.

Besides the cool name change, it’s unclear whether this move actually coalesces donors. Democrats seem a bit less comfortable in their skin in the Super PAC game, though that could well change by November.
